To My Fellow Leafy Greenies: Buy your greens live. Yes, alive — roots and all. My latest “KO Approved” food is live greens from Pete’s Living Greens. While we’re sheltered at home, it’s best to stock up on food that lasts 1 to 2 weeks to reduce visits to the crowded supermarket. But that means limpy, wimpy yellowed greens that have lost their super green nutritional value.☹️

Living greens are still attached to their roots.

Pete’s Living Greens open up a whole new world. ✨ They’re grown hydroponically (grown in a solution of water and nutrients without soil) in protective greenhouses, so they are not exposed to pathogens like E. coli which often comes from animal feces from nearby farms or contaminated irrigation water.

You get ‘fresh-picked’ organic greens (butter lettuce, mixed greens, and watercress). Pete’s Living Greens last for well over a week. Really! They taste amazing. I stocked up and they’re still alive, crisp, AND green! 🌱

NOTE: The “root ball” is 100% certified organic peat moss. According to Pete, “If it’s not connected to its roots, it’s no longer connected to its life-force. Or in other words, it’s no longer breathing or growing or tasting as it was intended to taste.”
