Do you lose your train of thought in the middle of a conversation? Have difficulty remembering instructions? Brain fog could be the culprit, and it can be especially noticeable in the summer. Summer eating habits—and even dehydration—can directly affect how well your brain performs. In this segment, as KRON 4’s health expert, I explain how to clear the mental fog.
What Causes Brain Fog?
Brain fog isn’t a medical diagnosis, but the term describes that frustrating feeling when thinking, concentration, or memory just doesn’t seem as sharp as usual.
In the summer, some of our everyday habits can make that fogginess worse—including dehydration and eating more foods high in saturated fat and added sugar.
In this live KRON 4 segment, I show you what can happen when brain cells aren’t functioning at their best—and why the foods we eat matter.
We also talk about chemotherapy-induced brain fog, which has a different cause but can produce some of the same frustrating problems with memory, attention, and concentration.
Foods That Support Brain Health
Then we head to the table! I share some colorful, brain-friendly foods and recipes, including my Hawaiian Guacamole, Buffalo Balls, Summer Fruit Bruschetta, Cocoa Beet Cupcakes with Chocolate Hummus, and Hibiscus Berry Tea. My recipes are in my book.
And yes—the cupcakes really are frosted with hummus. 😊
