Connected We Stand: Addressing Veteran Loneliness

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Podcast

In this episode of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) podcast, Connected We Stand: Addressing Veteran Loneliness, I joined host Elizabeth Stetler for a conversation centered on the profound and often overlooked issue of veteran loneliness and isolation.

We discuss the challenges many veterans face after transitioning to civilian life, including the loss of camaraderie, the long-term impact of trauma and PTSD — particularly among Vietnam-era and post-9/11 veterans — and how these experiences influence cardiovascular, cognitive, and emotional health.

Drawing from my work supporting veterans through a remote cardiology program with the VA, I share how movement, lifestyle strategies, and meaningful connection can help rebuild resilience, support functional longevity, and promote whole-person health for veterans navigating life after service.
