“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
~ Jim Rohn
If 2020 is the year you plan to change the world (or change you), be sure it’s for the right ‘why’. Why do you want to do this? Is it driven by your own deep-seeded desire or is it because “the world” (a.k.a. your spouse, doctor, friends, in-laws….) wants it for you?
How many times have you set out to start a new business, lose weight, exercise more, etc. but over time that fierce drive and fire start to fizzle. Stop calling yourself a failure or believing you don’t have what it takes to be successful. This is the time to reflect on your why.
Examine whether you’re looking to feel fulfilled or to please those around you. If you genuinely want something, you will chase it with a vengeance. You will be unstoppable. You will overcome challenges, obstacles, and setbacks.
If excuses suddenly start to appear, then you really don’t want to do something. You are looking for a way out. Perhaps you never wanted to do this in the first place or deep in your soul, you want your life to stay the same. When you find yourself beaten down with ‘excuse-itis’, let the excuses be your catalyst to reflect on and identify your true impassioned motives.
